There's about a million other stories such as this about humanity colonising the stars and coming into conflict with an alien race. I respect some certain features of the story, such as the world-building and the reimagining of the future with the introduction of some really interesting tech, but the central premise is just so tired, worn out, and overdone. If he could trim the list of characters, shave away some of the uninteresting, boring parts of the story and confine the story within an area of interest, that could have worked. It's about 500 pages longer than it needs to be. An absolute chore to get through for the most part. ![]() Unfortunately, this book still is a giant bore. The only positive thing about this book that I can personally say, is that at least it isn't completely derived and borrowed off another one like the Eragon books were. They just ripped off the Star Wars movies beat by beat. His Eragon books were uninspired, long, boring, and most importantly - completely derivative.
